The challenge
Bocchi Labs was placing loose corrugated and trash into gaylord boxes and shipping both to another recycling company. Royal first agreed to handle the scrap the same way and at the same cost, then visited the facility to identify better options.
The analysis
Royal reviewed two lightly loaded trailers being serviced daily, gathered equipment and hauling quotes, and compared the cost and weight of the existing service. The analysis showed that the original method was inefficient and overpriced.
The solution
Royal recommended separate compactors for trash and corrugated. Corrugated would go to a Royal facility and trash directly to the landfill. After equipment rental and hauling costs, the change saved Bocchi Labs more than $100,000 per year and allowed more material to be recycled.
